Xbox 360 Minecraft Players To Remain In Ignorant Bliss: Adventure Update Still A Ways Off
This peaceful haven shall see no adventure… for a bit longer.
While Minecraft has sold millions of units on the Xbox Live Arcade and broken every sales record there is to have on that platform, PC Minecraft players (browser alpha FTW!!!11!) have known for a while that the Xbox 360 version of the game is considerably gimped. Now the promised Adventure Update, uh, update, will land on the Xbox in ‘a few more weeks’ rather than the previously imagined sooner than that. The aptly named release will introduce villages, villagers, and the PC version’s quest line, all of which were introduced last year for the primary version of the game.

Labor Day Gaming Round-Up
Happy Labor Day Everyone!
Well, there’s not a whole lot going on in the gaming world today…That is to say there’s not a lot of information floating around out there, mostly because PAX is over and everyone is on holiday; So here are some short tidbits from the world of gaming to hold you folks over until the information pipeline opens up again.
From The Forums… N’s Thoughts On The PlanetSide 2 Beta
Infantry in all its top-down glory!
The above picture isn’t PlanetSide 2, but it was a game made by Sony Online Entertainment and released in 1999, not long after the original EverQuest hit shelves. It was a top-down 2D shooter with modes like capture the flag and team deathmatch locked into specially designed maps. My favorite mode, and the one I played almost exclusively, was a ‘capture the points’ mode in which teams started in drop ships on opposite ends of a very wide map.
I’m Going To PAX Australia, Who’s Coming With Me?
I can’t confirm that PAX AUS will be a Sydney joint, but I probably just did.
Although it was almost entirely in passing, Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins, the brain trust behind Penny Arcade, announced that their long-sought international PAX, or Penny Arcade Expo, would take place in Australia. No host city or date was dropped, but as much as the fellows of Perth love their town, I imagine (relatively wealthy) gamers as well as native Australians will flock to Sydney in droves come 2014. Or maybe Melbourne. Or Adelaide.
City of Heroes To End Later This Year, Billing To Stop Immediately
There just weren’t enough Heroes to save the City.
Just over a year after going free to play, NCSoft has announced that they are closing City of Heroes down. Created by Cryptic Studios and launched in 2004, the game put the Korean MMO publisher on the map as far as American audiences were concerned (their Lineage games were pretty big overseas, but never caught on here).
And, FINALLY, It’s Time To Talk About Planetside 2 – With Gameplay Video
OMFG I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
Planetside 2, Sony Online Entertainment’s re-imagining of the hit MMOFPS Planetside. We’ve been waiting for SO LONG to be able to really talk to you guys about this and now we can.
Where should I start? That’s the only question…So I suppose I’ll start with the world of Auraxis and how we came to be here, according to the history of Planetside 2…and some Planetside 1.

Skyrim’s Hearthfire Expansion? I Don’t Have Time For This Sh*t
Reticulating dragonborns…
Oh, silly Bethesda! Skyrim already takes an aggressive amount out of my jam-packed day. Now you’re trying to implement what made the Sims addicting into your Elder Scrolls game? Damn you, Bethesda. Damn you…
Prepare To Be Ravaged
This reminds me of a movie…hmmm…
Earlier today, Reverb publishing announced a new Unreal Engine 3 based online First Person shooter which will take place entirely in vehicles. 2 Dawn games is the muscle behind the post apocalyptic shooter which is set to beat the balls off of PAX Prime attendees and is currently in closed beta.
