The Woman In Black Review: Back To Basics
Hammer Films re-emerges with a picture reminiscent of the studio’s own glory days and classic Universal horror films of the 1930’s but carrying a few nasty habits gleaned from contemporary Hollywood productions. On the whole, director James Watkins and screenwriter Jane Goldman have forged an effective, traditional haunted house movie replete with gloomy atmosphere and spine-tingling chills. The Woman in Black may not break any new ground in the genre, but it accomplishes what it sets out to do.
Madonna: Time To Hang Up Those Dancing Shoes!
So the date is Sunday 5th February. There’s a tingle of excitement coursing through the veins of every man, woman and child in America. Of course it’s Super Bowl Sunday. Now as a non-American, my interest in American Football (I could get into the argument of should it really be called football but I’ll let it slide) came a few years ago when my brother started playing for his University team. I’ve not looked back since then having sat down to watch the last TWO Super Bowls.
The Best Commercials of the Super Bowl
I don’t know how I really feel about this years Super Bowl commercials, there are so many car commercials, it’s ridiculous. These aren’t necessarily the funniest commercials but overall the best commercials that should be watched. I thought it was funny this year ad makers were either getting excited for the commercial and airing them early or they were making teaser commercials for the commercial. We will be updating this list throughout the night so make sure you check it out often. Read the rest of this article…
Comedy Actors I Want To See More Of: Andy Samberg
Andy Samberg – This was a difficult one as Samberg hasn’t really appeared in that many films, the only two I have seen being the starring role in Hot Rod and the role of Paul Rudd’s brother in I Love You, Man. Samberg, like Bill Hader, is quite well known in the US, having also been a member of the SNL cast since 2005.The greatest weapon in his arsenal is the uncanny knack he has of combining slapstick comedy with good comedy to achieve very good results. I’m not the greatest fan of slapstick comedy due to its reliance on cheap laughs, doing the obvious and expected thing instead of putting a bit more time and effort into making something you can be proud of. With Samberg, the slapstick element comes in a physical form. As I’m sure you are aware, Andy Samberg has an abnormally wide mouth, and simply pulling faces that emphasise just how big it is, or pronouncing words in a funny way could make even the most stony-faced person crack a smile. Add to this his perfect timing and delivery and we have an all round comedy actor. Read the rest of this article…
‘Chronicle’ Review – The Best Found-Footage Movie Since… Ever?
Imagine you had near-limitless mental powers. C’mon now, you’ve dreamt of being able to crush your foes, assemble things, or even fly… all with a mere thought. But what if someone you knew and respected began to use them for nefarious purposes? Such is the dilemma that Steve and Matt face when the latter’s depressed cousin, Andrew, begins to use his new-found powers of telekinesis in terrible ways.
Daria Is The Best Show MTV Ever Made
I spent a lot of time watching MTV during the summers of high school. Most of it was garbage (and yeah, they rarely played music videos even in the late 90s), but one show has endeared when the former music network’s other content has dried up and died. I don’t know how I got started, but once I caught Daria playing on some hot, boring summer day, I didn’t stop. When they would play it in day-long marathons, I was in for the ride.
Gillette Masters of Style – Sell Out Spotlight
Do you have style? If so, could you use more? Of course you could. Everyone knows that we at FleshEatingZipper, with our varied crop of crops, would’ve been perfect for Gillette’s new ad campaigns on how much style matters, but I guess our secrets will probably never be known as Gillette decided not to do spots with us. But we know some people who might be good replacements… Read the rest of this article…
‘Man on a Ledge’ Review – Just Jump Already
A great title and a good trailer gave me high hopes for “Man on a Ledge.” It’s a simple enough formula. Take Sam Worthington as the desperate escaped convict, put him on the precarious ledge of a building, add Elizabeth Banks as the haunted negotiator trying to talk him down, and then present it all to us as a taut and clever heist film… Sign me up!
Unfortunately, Man on a Ledge is all premise and no plot. The film is preposterous and silly in equal measure.
Key And Peele Review
Last night was the premiere of Key And Peele, a sketch comedy show created by none other than Key and Peele. Now before you disregard the show entirely, think of how many shows out there that could follow tosh.0. Ok, bad example.
It’s A Ferris Bueller Honda Commercial. Bastards.
Ready to be disappointed with the rest of the world? The teaser of what could potentially have been a trailer for a Ferris Bueller sequel, turns out to be nothing but a Honda CR-V commercial. Let me reiterate how disappointed I am. However, this could be a blessing in disguise. Read the rest of this article…
