Be The First To Know When ‘Arrested Development’ Is Live on Netflix
I’m all signed up to be notified!
Season 4 of Arrested Development is set to release on Sunday, May 26th at midnight, or some other time during the day, time zone, we don’t know! Fortunately, there’s a service that’ll alert us at the very second it goes live on the site. Read the rest of this article…
Can Kelsey Grammer Save ‘Transformers 4’ From Itself? Sure
I didn’t realize how many faces I’d posted today until just now.
The only thing more intellectually insulting than the Transformers trilogy is the fact that I paid money to see them all in theaters. Yes, like so many other millions of people, I’ve opened my wallet to see a terrible train wreck several times over. In my defense, I loved school supplies that were sparkled, shined, or dazzled, so I think I just have a ‘shiny thing complex’ for Industrial Light & Magic’s incredible showmanship. Now they’ve got Kelsey Grammer.
‘Pacific Rim’: Okay Del Toro, Sell Me On Your Giant Robot/Monster Movie
Now it’s personal!
It’s ironic that despite loving Power Rangers as a kid, a $100 million-plus movie about giant robots and huge terrible thunder lizards somehow repelled me. Yeah, weird. Poster Videodrome’s been keeping us up to date in the forums, but I haven’t had much to say about it. I mean, okay, it’s a nerd fantasy. With the recent release of the new Wonder Con footage, I have to ask director Guillermo del Toro, “why is this your first movie in seven years?”
‘Strip Search’ Recap: Season 1, Episode 18 “Sketch For Tips”
Khoo being a dick.
Another Tuesday, another Strip Search! Last week, I was wary of the artists’ return to their convention setups. We were just in the Card Kingdom’s dungeon and now we’re back? Fine. In the end, it paid off.
Boards Of Canada Has A New Album! It’s Coming Out June 11!
I can hear it being creepy from here!
If you want some genuinely creepy music, go grab Boards of Canada’s Geogaddi. Featuring all the warped analog samples you could ever want, its ripples and stretches are borderline disgusting. Of course, you know exactly who they are if you’ve ever watched a Salad Fingers cartoon, which is exactly how I got to know them nearly a decade ago.
‘To The Wonder’ Review: A Movie About People Who Stare at Things
This picture encapsulates the entire film: people wandering around through fields and staring at shit just off camera.
Am I going crazy this week? This is the first time I’ve seen a Michael Bay movie and a Terrence Malick movie in the same week and ended up liking the Michael Bay movie and hating the Terrence Malick movie. Nevertheless, Terrence Malick’s latest film, little more than a montage of people walking away from the camera while vague narration waxes poetic, is his weakest by far.
‘Pain and Gain’ Review: Surprisingly Painless for a Michael Bay Movie
Michael Bay’s best movie since The Rock.
With Pain and Gain, Michael Bay attempts to tell his own Scorsese-esque crime biopic. The result isn’t as bad as you might expect. In fact, Pain and Gain is a pretty damn good movie. That’s partially because Bay resisted the impulse to turn this into a slam-bang action flick with constant explosions and partially because he finally found subject matter that fit his sensibilities as a director like a glove.
‘Strip Search’ Recap: Season 1, Episode 17 “SS Grand Prix”
OMGOMGOMG
Hell. Yes. It’s been almost twenty years since I’ve driven a go-kart. My dad egged me on because I met the height requirement (I was kinda tall as a kid), so on that last time we went to Omaha’s Fun-Plex, I was sure to give it a go. I was afraid of wrecking the kart, I was afraid of wrecking someone else’s kart, I was afraid of anything involving go-karting, but once I was going, I was gone. Mmmm… oh, right, Strip Search!
NBC Renews ‘Parenthood’! …and ‘Revolution’, I Guess
Not pictured: me caring about anything else.
If you don’t know me by now, I’ll let it slide, but also let you know that I continue to hate TV, especially now that NBC’s track record fails to impress. Community has gotten way too soft, even after the disastrous premiere, Revolution‘s lost its spark, but Parenthood keeps on trucking, because it’s a big ol’ truck with lots of gas and… mileage… and family values? Look, I’m trying to say NBC’s renewal of Parenthood ensures I’ll have something to watch on Hulu come Fall, now that The Office is wrapping up.
New Theatrical Movie Releases: Opening April 26, 2013
Yo, Mark is looking totally swole.
Well, kind of a dull week for moviegoers. There are a bunch of limited release movies that you’ll have to check your local theater for, but probably won’t be available unless you’re living in LA or New York. The award for thiss week’s biggest and most widely marketed movie goes to Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson. It’s an action-comedy set in the nineties with the stars playing personal trainers. Oh, and Michael Bay directed it. Read the rest of this article…
