So, you might have heard some bad things about Dragon Age 2, or maybe you heard some good things. Angry Birds One of the Most Profitable Games in History
Angry Birds is reportedly one of the most profitable games of all time.
Made for just $140,000, the smash hit has already generated an estimated $70 million, more than 500 times what it cost to make.
EEDAR analyst Jesse Dinvich told IndustryGamers: “The 140k was the development costs and given the marketing and auxiliary products (plush toys), the actual cost to maintain and operate the Angry Birds brand is certainly higher, but still, it is fair to say that Angry Birds is by far one of the most profitable games in history, relative to costs.” Read the rest of this article…
Call of Duty: Black Ops the Best-Selling Game in History
Call of Duty: Black Ops is the best selling game ever according to a report from NPD Group.
Analyst Anita Frazier said, “Call of Duty: Black Ops was the best-selling game in February, retaining the top selling spot since launch in November. It has now become the best-selling game in history, topping Wii Play.”
The market research company confirmed that Black Ops has sold 13.7 million units in the US alone. Read the rest of this article…
Xbox 360 is the Best-Selling Console in February 2011
Microsoft sold 535,000 Xbox 360 units in the US in February making it the best-selling console of the month, NPD has revealed.
That’s the second straight month Microsoft has taken the console crown in the US, and February saw a 27 percent jump in sales compared to February 2010.
The result was predicted by both Wedbush’s Michael Pachter and fellow analyst outfit EEDAR on Monday ahead of the NPD announcement.
The market research group also revealed that the Wii came in at 454,000 unit sales in February, putting it 14 percent up compared to the same time last year.
That figure also puts the Ninty system beyond the 35 million unit mark in the US, making it the fastest selling console in history.
All three consoles saw some increase in hardware sales compared to last February, however Sony refused to release sales figures.

Shit’s getting real today, folks. Hi-Rez Studios, the company who brought us Global Agenda, has announced it’s new game — Tribes Ascend. That’s right, that awesome multiplayer game that you played back in high school is now coming for vengeance to the Xbox 360 and PC this year.

3 Games Telltale Must Make
Telltale Games has brought the old “point and click” adventures back to the fore front of gaming. With compelling story lines, memorable characters and fun gameplay, there’s no need to pick up that carbon copy of Call of Duty anymore. Games like Back to the Future, The Walking Dead and Jurassic Park make it only natural to want more from the company that seems to turn everything they touch into gold. Here’s my triage of cinematic adventures that need to be developed by Telltale!

PlayStation Plus Users Getting Cloud-Based Save Storage Tomorrow
Tomorrow, the PlayStation Network will be down for a whopping 11 hours (which if you haven’t updated your PlayStation 3 in about two weeks is par for the course, ifyaknowwhatImean) largely in part to add cloud-based storage for game saves. There are some size/access restrictions, of course and it’s only for Plus subscribers, but this is a great step in the right direction for any console. Does anyone else dread their hardware failing and losing all of their save content? I know I do. It seems that now consoles are trying to go the way of Steam (or Google-based contacts for phones) by keeping the content safely tucked away on a remote hard drive on the internet rather than only solely in your console or on a memory card. The sooner that Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo make this a ubiquitous feature across all of their games, the better.
