FleshEatingZipper’s Minecraft Server In Pictures – Week 2
Burn, baby, burn!
Has it really been, like, a week and a half since we started our Minecraft server? (Check out last week’s pics here!) It sure has! That hasn’t stopped our crazy progress in and around Ravine City, though. We’ve welcomed a few newcomers and, believe it or not, spent a lot of time mining. Let me explain.
Zaxxon Escape Review: It’s Like Temple Run, But In A Ship
C’mon baby, let’s do the twist!
If you’re like me, you’ve played the original Zaxxon (on our fourth-grade classroom’s Apple IIe, mind you!) and you think Temple Run is thematically uninteresting. Really, a bunch of apes chasing a scared adventurer down a series of randomized paths until it simply becomes impossibly difficult to play? Boring. But, turn your adventure into blaster-enabled spaceship and the apes into flames licking your ship’s rear end and you’ve got Zaxxon Escape. How good is it? Really good.
Worms Revolution Review: Bringing Back Classic Gaming Fun
The classiest Worms yet!
Worms Revolution is a new game coming to XBLA, PSN and PC October 10th for 1200 MSP or $14.99 respectively from Team17 Software. I haven’t played Worms in years, YEARS. The other Worms titles that have hit XBLA kind of skipped over me but when I heard of Worms Revolution I knew I had to jump on it. The game has the same feel as the classic Worms games but it just looks better and has incorporated more to the game. There are several game modes to play; campaign, puzzle, versus and online. Each one has it’s ups and downsides and I think people will figure out which game mode they like best and stick to it for a while. Read the rest of this article…
Zynga Shares Fall After Q3 Loss
It’s a doggy dog world.
If you’re like me, then you probably hate those obnoxious game-related messages from your friends that clutter up your Facebook feed. “Sam just found this pointless virtual object!” “Gary needs your help in this silly game!” Well, I won’t go so far as to call it Karma, but Zynga – the company behind a lot of that spam – just took a big stock hit after announcing a Q3 loss this week.
More Mobile Gaming – Now With Android, Alchemy And…ZAXXON?!
Gaming on the go!
We’re back with more mobile gaming. You can expect to see mobile gaming news on a much more regular (regularer? lawlz) basis here, since the first installment yesterday which covered exclusively iOS titles. You can also expect much more for Android as developers continue to push that market forward and begin moving more mobile gaming cross-platform.
Here’s the skinny for today!
SimCity Already Game Of The Year? EA Releases New Gameplay Video
People arrive by the trainload to gamble. Trains! Gambling!
The more I see of Electronic Arts’ SimCity reboot, the more I like it. I was skeptical that Maxis could pull off such a thorough reinvention of the series, but as layers are peeled away, we see how they’ve turned SimCity from a grid-based simulation based on a number of abstractions to a game in which roads and zones can be planted freely and each aspect of the city is modeled piece by piece, not unlike how strategy games Of Olde like RollerCoaster Tycoon handled individual tourists.
Bethesda Announces New Studio In Austin, Headed by Rich Vogel!
They’re pretty excited, I guess… But what does that really mean?
On a recent blog post from Bethesda Softworks, it has been announced that on October 3rd, they were proud to present a new studio based in Austin, Texas, sharing company with Arkane Studios, another Bethesda property. The new facility, named Battlecry Studios, will be the latest under the Bethesda/Zenimax hallmark, with the former head of Bioware’s Austin Division, Richard Vogel, as the head of this new studio. Vogel, if you didn’t know already, was affiliated with previous titles like Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, and most recently, Star Wars: The Old Republic. Read the rest of this article…

New DLC Hits “Sanctum” On Steam
Still Kicking.
“Extry, extry! Read all about it! New DLC Hits Sanctum On Steam!”
“Where’s that story?”
“Page two. Sanctum Downloads Bring Down Steam!”
“Really?”
“Well, no. That’s just sensationalism.”
