I started re-watching Star Trek – The Original Series a few days ago because I was bored out of my brain. When I started streaming it on Netflix I thought, right away, that something was odd…Different…I don’t remember the Enterprise looking like that. They didn’t have special effects like that in 1966.
Movie Review: 30 Minutes or Less
When you think of a recent black comedy, what do you think of? Observe & Report? Pineapple Express? While not as dark or bizarre as those films, 30 Minutes or Less enjoys being vulgar for the sake of being vulgar. On its face, that’s not really a problem, but it leads to a lot of cheap humor, something that many of those films aspired to be better than. Don’t get me wrong, the film is funny, the action is spectacular, and the leads are lovably awful. With its small cast of characters, there aren’t many surprises here, but the chemistry makes it work.

Review Time – Phi 3 Comics’ Spiralmind – #3
If you followed our coverage of 2011’s Phoenix Comicon you’ll remember that we met with Phi 3 comics for a nice interview and that they hooked us up with a couple copies of their new comic, for a review. I admitted that I was never much of a comic book reader but that I was fairly impressed with the premise of the comic and the ideas that Matt and Ben had for the future.
Well, I got a pre-release copy of the third installment of the Spiralmind comic series, today and a request that I read it and do up a review.
Well…here goes.
Movie Review: Cowboys & Aliens
To be fair, I’m not a big fan of westerns. It’s not that they’re bad films, they’re just not terribly appealing. Dusty men riding horseback across barren wastelands is not enticing. I’m an alien invasion dude. Alien spaceships? Explosions? Pew pew? I’m on board! So when the trailer debuted for Cowboys & Aliens, Jon Favreau’s latest joint (you know, the guy who gave us Iron Man) I was hesitant about the genre mash-up. Unfortunately, and despite its best intentions, the film just isn’t a satisfying venture in either direction.
