MGR: Revengeance Demo Impressions
Boy, oh, boy. More Metal Gear.
Of course, it’s a little odd not seeing Solid Snake at the forehead of this game, being the staple of the series since his incarnation in the original Metal Gear games, only ever taking the side-line during MGS3 when Raiden was introduced. Like most, I wasn’t impressed by this newcomer, who seems to have taken the spot-light. In fact I think most were happy with sticking to the grizzled survivalist we’d seen in the tougher-than-grit hero, Solid Snake, but nobody can blame a series for trying to evolve. Crytek Acquires Rights to Homefront IP…Interesting.
Hopefully it will be better this time.
So. We all know that THQ is done (Which sucks, because we really liked them). We also know that they had handed development of Homefront 2 over to Crytek last year. Now that THQ has gone tango uniform, though, we have found out that Crytek has acquired the intellectual property rights for Homefront and will be taking over the whole show from here on out.
Today We Say Goodbye To THQ
I guess I’ll see you, see you on the other siiiiide…
Well, it’s been a long road. While THQ had originally planned to sell itself in its entirety to investment group Clearlake, the courts decided that they would get more money selling off their properties and studios individually. As widely reported, many of these studios found homes and THQ ultimately raised $72 million. But while Relic goes to Sega, Volition goes to Deep Silver, and South Park, plus a number of other properties, go to Ubisoft, our sources in THQ have confirmed that today is the final day for the employees of THQ proper and Vigil Studios, whom you may know for the Darksiders games. Yeah, it’s all done now.
Trion Worlds + XL Games = Best Asian MMORPG Ever?
It’s pretty…that’s for sure
Well, that’s what the email I got from them is claiming. It seems that Trion Worlds and XLGames have entered into a strategic partnership which will see Trion Worlds bringing the XLGames title “ArcheAge” to Western markets…And they claim it “is poised to be the most polished massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) coming out of Asia.“. The game will be hosted on Trion Worlds’ Red Door platform in North America, Europe, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand.
New Unofficial Xbox Branding Identity Is Crazy Enough To Work
Get it?
You may not be familiar with Cory Schmitz, but he’s a designer who’s done plenty of work for the gaming industry, most recently with the PlayStation title Sound Shapes and the branding for Polygon. Well, after a “one-afternoon branding jam”, Cory came up with an interesting take on the next generation of Xbox branding, a wave that’s rumored to include tablets and smaller set top boxes. So how does it look?
Elder Scrolls Online Alliances At War – Developer Video
I don’t know what that thing is but BY GOD it’s ugly!
Yesterday, Nick published an article about Elder Scrolls Online preparing for closed beta. In that article, he included the latest cinematic trailer, which shows some really serious and super violent (oh so sexy) shenanigans going on between what turns out to be 3 different factions in the Elder Scrolls universe.
That’s great, but why are they fighting with each other? I have a nice dev video that explains it all.
Nintendo Is Out Of Touch With American Gamers
You know it’s bad when an updated Gamecube game for the Wii U creates a huge buzz in the gaming community. Nintendo is notorious for rehashing the same brand over and over again. Why must they run everything into the ground?
Dust 514 Has Entered Open Beta
MMOFPS Meets MMO Space Sim. Binary Peanut Butter Cups?
CCP Games today announced they are moving forward with the development of their upcoming MMOFPS and tie in to the long standing hit MMO Space Sim “Eve Online” with the start of the open beta period for Dust 514, which we had a chance to see (and even play a little) at E3 2012.
The Elder Scrolls Online Opens Its Doors For Beta Testers, Has Much To Prove
FILL OUT THIS FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORM!
It’s been fourteen months since Skyrim landed on store shelves and crushed all kinds of sales goals (most of that time I spent not playing it) and now Bethesda is ready to bring in the next wave of fantasy-RPG excitement to the world. Starting today, you can sign up for beta access to the series’ new MMO. It’s here, after a mundane unveiling at E3, that we’ll be able to test whether or not Bethesda can break World of Warcraft’s grip on our MMO dollars, but it faces a long, challenging road.
Beat Hazard (PC) Review: Seizure By The Second
If you can figure out what’s going on here, you’ve won half the battle.
The first time I saw Beat Hazard nearly three years ago, I nearly had to avert my eyes because of the headache it was about to cause. A dual-stick shooter not unlike the fabulous Geometry Wars, Beat Hazard is one of a handful of games to feature levels generated by your music library. What sets Beat Hazard apart? The visual madness that starts cutting into your eyeballs as soon as your favorite song kicks into drive.
