The Boston Marathon Bombing: My $0.02

The exact moment of the first explosion

N has already touched on the bombings in Boston today and the cries of “false flag” from the idiotic anti-government conspiracy nuts-who are much higher up the list of suspects than the government is, in my opinion-who immediately blame the government every time something goes awry. I learned about the bombings in Boston right around the same time he did and I’ve been reading and watching video about the situation ever since.

As you would expect, I have something to say.

Gun Control? What A Farce!

Gun control means hitting your target.

Yeah yeah, I know. Gun control is a hot debate topic these days and it’s generally not a great idea to jump into such an argument with both feet unless you’re ready for all of the crazies to come out of the woodwork. But, sometimes something happens that is so outrageous or so incredible that we just have to put aside the worry of getting bum rushed by morons and just put our opinion out there.

Kickstarters, And Why They Are Good And Wholesome

Give us money for…stuff…

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article about how the Kickstarter program is being abused to foster never-before-heard levels of evil against the human race. I still hold that opinion and while I think the vast majority of the Kickstarters out there are absolute shit, from time to time someone gets it very, very right and when they do, we all win.

Roberts Space Industries Shows Off Character Animation

Lunge 2…3…4…

I wrote an article yesterday in which I discussed the customization issues which have plagued MMO games since their early days and have only gotten worse over the years. Another prevalent issue in MMOs – and indeed, in games in general – has been character animation. I have always found that the characters were either animated in a very unnatural fashion or had oddly disproportionate parts, like a male character who has big biceps, bowling ball shoulders and forearms like toothpicks or no big forearms, no neck and tiny little biceps.

‘Star Citizen’ Talks Customization: This Ain’t No Cookie Cutter MMO

‘Star Citizen’ Talks Customization: This Ain’t No Cookie Cutter MMO

The Hornet. Supremely flexible… with the right parts.

One of the bigger problems with MMO games of all genres has always been customization. What looks like a million customization options in the beginning ends up turning into one or two cookie cutter builds as the game progresses and it becomes clear that one build is vastly superior to the rest of the possible combinations due to game mechanics. Once this happens we realize that we’re stuck with hundreds or thousands of players playing the same character, wearing the same armor and carrying the same weapon as every other character of that type. Verizon, HTC, Will You Please Stop Screwing Me And My Thunderbolt?

Verizon, HTC, Will You Please Stop Screwing Me And My Thunderbolt?

More like BLUNDERBolt

A while ago, I wrote about the Ice Cream Sandwich update Verizon finally pushed out to owners of the HTC Thunderbolt and how miserably it affected the performance of the phone. It has since gotten worse, taking long periods of time to start applications and even longer to get the phone application to work. So long, in fact, that incoming calls often roll to voice mail before the phone app starts and allows me to answer.

And it seems most Thunderbolt owners are complaining of the same problems.

Now That Roger Ebert Is Gone, Let’s Talk About People Being Inappropriate

Now That Roger Ebert Is Gone, Let’s Talk About People Being Inappropriate

You’re guilty of being an asshole!

Listen, I know that, from time to time, everyone has little lapses in judgment which lead to them looking like a raging asshole in front of everyone. It can’t be avoided. Just the other day, for example, I listened to a woman in the store talk about the really good sex she’d had with her boyfriend the night before, while a five or six-year old little girl listened on.

Faux pas, much?

Bioware Creative Director Makes Excuses For SWTOR

Bioware…really? Really? Really? *sigh*

Lots of things happened at GDC this year. Developers and publishers got in front of tons of other developers, publishers along with twelve tons of journalists and spoke about the projects they’ve been working on, their previous work and new technical challenges they’ve faced.

Then, James Ohlen, Creative Director for BioWare, got up in front of everyone and proceeded to suck at sucking.
